XVI European KAIZEN™ Congress, Wroclaw, Poland, 27-29 November 2019

This year’s European KAIZEN™ Congress took place from November 27-29 in Wroclaw, Poland. It was the 16th KAIZEN™ Congress in Poland with about 200 participants and again a great success. The main topic of the Congress was "KAIZEN™ Strategy to achieve Business Goals".

Antonio Costa from Kaizen Institute Western Europe opened the Congress with a main speech about KAIZEN™ Strategy, which turned out to be a great inspiration for the participants. The event program of the first day was then rounded off by speakers from well-known European companies who shared their valuable experience in successfully implementing KAIZEN™.

New this year, a panel discussion was held with the Top Management of the companies Tchibo, Philips, Velux, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)  Poland, PPG Deco Polska and Kaizen Institute Western Europe. The main topic of the panel discussion was the approach to Strategy implementation, challenges and opportunities, problems and successes.

After the panel discussion, participants attended 8 interactive workshops dedicated to specific KAIZEN™ tools or areas, led by KAIZEN™ practitioners from various companies. It was a great chance to learn something new or to deepen, refresh or extend training skills gained before.

The interactive workshops were followed by 4 lectures about Strategy implementation and its connections with achieving the goals of the organization. Case studies were presented by Sitech, US Pharmacia, Lotte Wedel and DB Schenker. All speeches were very practical and inspiring.

In the evening, after a festive gala dinner, the winner of the KAIZEN™ Award Poland 2019, FCA Poland was announced. Kaizen Institute Poland also presented two distinctions to COLEP Polska and Carlsberg Polska. Additionally, two companies were awarded for a Partner Cooperation with Kaizen Institute Poland: Velux Poland and FCA Poland.

During the Benchmark Tours on the second day, the participants visited 7 companies which have already successfully implemented the KAIZEN™ methodologies and built a sustainable KAIZEN™ culture within their organizations: FCA Poland, Velux, VOLVO, Sitech, US Pharmacia, Whirlpool and Scanfil. The participants had the opportunity to get practical insights to those implementations.

The third day was a practical Workshop Day at the companies Cooper Standard and Velux, where Congress participants could learn about the application of selected KAIZEN™ tools directly at the host factories. In small groups, the participants shared their experience with the hosts and among each other.
